We now offer personal, family, and business mediation services through our newest dba, JBC Mediation. Our mediation services not only assist individuals but also provide evaluation services for employers and community organizations. These groups can benefit from our presentations on conflict management and negotiation, along with consulting services designed to improve employee relations and performance.
As we grow, we continue to stay true to the original mission of JBurton Consulting, LLC, by offering evaluation services for STEM education programs and projects to help improve services and broaden impact. Additionally, we provide mediation services along with assistance in grant writing, program design, and strategic plan assessment.
I hold a bachelor's degree in biology and master's and doctoral degrees in education with emphases in higher education administration and educational psychology. I have served as a faculty member, assistant dean, program evaluator, program facilitator, relationship management strategist, and executive director for student success initiatives. In 2016, I opened JBurton Consulting, LLC (JBC) and have been providing educational consulting and evaluation services since 2012. In 2025, I was certified as a mediator through the National Association of Certified Mediators and added JBC Mediation as a dba (Doing Business As) of JBurton Consulting, LLC. I feel called to serve others and to give a voice to those who may not otherwise be heard. I love helping people find ways to align their work with their values, which not only helps the individual but also allows their organization to thrive in a healthier and more efficient way. I am also grateful to have the opportunity to work with people who are in disagreement but want to resolve their disputes in a peaceful, collaborative manner.
Key Strengths
I have had the opportunity to work with and guide K-12 administrators and teachers, families, after-school programs, university faculty and staff, graduate students, communities, and many others throughout my career. Some of the key strengths I've gained, both through training and innate understanding and experience are: relationship-building, conflict resolution and consensus-building, critical thinking, strategic planning, idea development, technical writing and editing, meeting and retreat design and facilitation, and data visualization. I also have the ability to simplify seemingly disparate, ambiguous, or complex information into useful, meaningful data for decision-making purposes, enhancing the effectiveness of the services I provide.
My experience includes over 20 years of building individual, program, and organizational success through coaching, mentoring, teaching, evaluation services, and facilitation. I have also conducted a number of informal mediations throughout my career, leading me to add mediation services certification to my professional toolbox. I have completed 40 hours of basic mediation training, 24 hours of family mediation training, and am enrolled in a practicum with the Volunteers of America for Western Washington to become certified as a mediator for their Dispute Resolution Center in Washington State.
I have taught graduate-level classes on program evaluation and introductory research methods and served as an external evaluator and Principal Investigator for several state-, federal-, and locally funded projects related to STEM education and student success (National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, the Innovia Foundation, and other agencies). In six years, I successfully negotiated for and helped secure over $800,000 in grants and contracts for evaluation work alone, which was part of over $5 million in total awards. I've also served as a committee member for several doctoral and master's students, published journal articles, and presented at national and local meetings. Much of my work has included serving students and families from high-trauma and limited-income backgrounds. This combination of skills and experiences shapes my perspective in helping clients from diverse backgrounds identify their own strengths, passions, and success strategies.
